Now that I am 35 weeks, I REALLY can tell for myself what works and what doesn’t when it comes to skincare during pregnancy.  Of course, everyone is different, bodies are different and hormones are different but  I want to tell you what worked for me and why I love them so much.  Either way, I will continue to use and wear all these products after pregnancy because nothing has worked better.

I would give this oil 10/10 stars for improving my skin.  Not only does it go on smoothly but it smells so damn good.  What’s interesting about this oil is that it was one of the first oil to be submitted to clinical trials and proved that it improves the appearance of scars and stretch marks.   I put this on my belly, buttocks, and breasts after a shower in the morning and night.  It has lasted me almost my whole pregnancy but that was me not putting as much as I wanted on.  I just want the bottle to be bigger that’s all!  What I love most about Bio‑Oil is that they focus exclusively on research, with the selling and distribution of its products licensed to leading skincare companies around the world.  BUY HERE

This SPF is my beauty savior.  No joke.  Pre-pregnancy, during and most definitely post-pregnancy.  This is the only tinted moisturized SPF that I can put on my face and not break out.  It’s lovely solo or under any make-up you would want to put on your face.  Elta MD is also such a great reputable brand I could not recommend them enough.   It’s a cosmetically elegant, all mineral, broad-spectrum sunscreen that is formulated to feel smooth and even improve sun-damaged skin.  BUY HERE

I know you are thinking, ok regular water bottle I can just use mine.  Sure, yes you can but it’s so simple and that’s why I love it so much.  It’s lightweight but incredibly sturdy.  It’s BPA free and it’s glass too but if you drop it, it will not break because of the white covering.  The silicone sleeve makes it easy to handle and it moderates temperature which is perfect for juices, water, and smoothies of your choice.  They come in an array of colors too.  Hydration is key for all of us especially us pregnant women but honestly, you won’t be disappointed.  Bonus…..it matches all my outfits and fits in all my day purses.  BUY HERE

Raise your hand if you have way too many lip balms, chapstick and lip glosses and don’t really care too much for them?  That was me until I purchased this lip balm from SummerFridays for myself.  I’m a huge fan of their serum and was curious about their lip balm.  And let me tell you, it’s changed my lips during pregnancy.  During pregnancy it’s normal to experience dryness all over your body and face including your lips so having this handy made my lips incredibly hydrating and silky.  Vegan and clean too! BUY HERE

I love I love I love this product so much.  This belly butter is so luxurious and high quality you’ll never stop using this.  I know I won’t.  It’s literally butter for your skin and smells delicious.  This Body Butter also works as an excellent daily moisturizer to treat common skin conditions like dry skin and patches.  It’s also non greasy and won’t clog your pores. Hypoallergenic, Vegan, Ideal for all skin types, even sensitive skin. I put it all over…..belly, legs, buttocks, feet, arms, you name it.  It’s only $34.00  BUY HERE

Much love, CP x

My love for wine is always overflowing but more recently probably due to that I am pregnant and can’t have any.  I dream about my first sip after being dry for almost nine months.  I wouldn’t call myself a sommelier but I have been drinking it for most of my life.  I grew up in an Italian Spanish household where drinking a glass with dinner was a normal day thing to do.  My father is that one guy that can tell you what wines are the best and what country makes good ones and what pairs perfectly with them.  So I guess I have to thank my father for my appreciation and love for this special sippy sip of a drink I love.

If you’ve ever walked into a store on the hunt for a great bottle without breaking the bank and get overwhelmed by the prices, branding, and choices?  Here’s a quick and easy list to get you through a great night of fine wine for yourself, friends, or a gift for someone special.

JUSTIN CABERNET PASO ROBLES

Justin is one of my favorite reds for a couple of years now.  It’s great solo or paired with pasta or steak.  One of the best things about it is that it’s just under $22 dollars and available at Trader Joe’s.

There are clear notes of earth, vanilla, and slightly toasted oak, complemented by strawberry, raspberry, and blackcurrant aromas. The wine has a soft entry, with balanced acidity and tannins, along with strawberry, earth, toasted oak, and vanilla flavors.

DAOU PESSIMIST RED BLEND, 2018

Such a good value for its bold amazing taste.  This was my go-to wine for dinner parties and got all my friends into it.  Interesting name, amazing taste.  ‘The Pessimist Cuvee by the Daou Brothers is always a good value for those who love opulent fruit, and the 2018 offers loads of sweet blue fruits, white chocolate, violets, and toasted spice aromas and flavors… it’s full-bodied, decadent, and rich while staying light.’ (Winemaker Notes)

2017 MOON X RED WINE

Okayyyyy.  Let’s get to it.  My all-time favorite wine for years now.  It’s chocolatey, berry beautiful taste is just what everyone wants in a Red.  Not only will you love the way it tastes but it literally sells for $7.99 at Trader Joe’s.  Yep.  I KNOW. I’m actually a huge fan of all the MoonX wines but this one tops the cake.  It compliments almost everything and it’s a perfect amount of sweetness, boldness, touched with a bit of oak.

‘This juicy, super-dense wine is inspired by the total blackness of a new moon – a lunar phase occurring when the sun, earth, and the moon are all aligned. Loaded with intense flavors of blackberries, black cherry, and dark chocolate, MoonX is the perfect wine to enjoy with roasted meats, barbequed anything, chocolates, or just by itself.’ (from the bottle)

CARSON RIDGE CHARDONNAY CENTRAL COAST

I just recently got the hots for white wines again and I must say this is my fav.  It’s clean, crisp, and goes perfectly well with seafood or a salad and or any so called light lunch.  Its fine fruity flavors make it complimentary with any fresh food and or dessert too.  I love this wine on a summer afternoon with a side of oysters. 🙂

Central Coast, CA- Fermented in stainless steel, the fruit flavors in this Chardonnay shine. Tropical fruits meld together into a medium-bodied wine with a lingering finish.  Only $11.99.

Chateau d’Esclans Whispering Angel Rose 2019

Rose, yes way.  I absolutely love Rose wine, prosecco, and or sparkling wine.  Not sure if it’s the subtle taste or the beautiful color, but it has my foodie heart.  I find it hard to find a really nice Rose under $15 dollars but this one is just below $25, selling for $24.99.  It pairs well with almost any food and dessert.  It’s clean, crisp, and perfectly smooth.  Your girlfriends will definitely appreciate the look and taste of this one.

Created by Sacha Lichine following his acquisition of Château d’Esclans in 2006, his vision was to create the greatest rosés in the world igniting the “Rosé Renaissance.” Sacha introduced new and innovative winemaking techniques to Provence which revolutionized the styles of rosés being produced from this region. This led to the creation of Whispering Angel, a world-class rosé which presents both ease and accessibility making for enjoyment and pleasure. (Winemaker’s Notes)

I love the simple life: I used to be on the go 24/7 and always had to be busy, always had to get done with my to-do list, I walked fast everywhere, and sometimes I wouldn’t even give myself some time for myself in the ladies room. That has all changed completely. I have found my peace and I love my alone time. I never get bored and I find myself that slowing down and taking every breath in and taking my time with tasks actually makes me more productive. Remember, there’s never too much time to get to know yourself.

I am actually a good cook: I’ve always enjoyed cooking but I was just doing it because it made me happy and was calming for me. This time at home has really made me get creative in the kitchen and not be afraid to try out different things. For those of you who know me and/or follow me on social, you do know that healthy foods are apart of my life. Getting into recipes from books, IG, or Pinterest has been my new favorite hobby. You can really make anything you love into a healthy version with some practice and lots of love.

Family, friends, and lovers are life: I’ve always been a family girl. ALWAYS. But this is the first time in 18 years that I have lived in the same state as my parents and close family. It has shown me the tremendous love and support that I have in my life. I went from seeing my parents a couple of times a year to needing to see them every other day. It’s always amazing to have support and love from the closest people because they are what makes a life well worth it. Support from family, friends, and lovers is one of kind and when you have a good support system. Anything and everything is possible. Your support system is still important.

Meditation and Spirituality are a must: I’ve always been a spiritual person and into meditation but I stopped meditating at night and some days during the week recently. I noticed myself becoming uncertain and having negative thoughts and being consumed by negativity when in the past I knew how to switch it all off. Let’s be honest here….life isn’t perfect and we all go through ups and downs, but it’s how we deal with those situations that make the difference. Once I was conscious of what was going on I religiously started to meditate deeply in the mornings and immediately my mindset changed. I turned into that girl I always have been. Faith and positivity came to play and the calming pure mindset helped me during some tough times. Meditation to me is my lifesaver. Without it, I wouldn’t see life as beautiful as it is today.

You don’t need a gym for a good workout: This definitely has been an eye-opener for me. Before quarantine, I wouldn’t last more than 20 minutes on a self workout but now I can work out for hours due to such high-quality high demand workout classes and influencers. Not only can you get creative with cardio but also get creative with weight training as well. Some examples are jump rope, peloton or bike, run, beach walks (sand is harder than you think), swimming, dancing, and YouTube HIIT workouts. Buy some free weights on Amazon or Walmart and do burnout sets. If you want heavier weights you can use furniture/kitchenware at your house for squats, lunges, and arm presses. Possibilities are endless and so much fun.

Doing nothing is OK: I’m pretty tired of the glamorizing of the hustle. Yes, I’m all about hustling and working hard but that doesn’t mean anything if you don’t know how to relax or take time for yourself. The time we spent on our overall health, including sleep, meditation, relaxation, reading books, or simply doing nothing is SO OK. These things are so important for overall stability, energy, and control over your work and personal life. I used to feel so upset with myself when I had extra time or just didn’t do anything for a couple of hours. But now, I embrace it. Balance is key. x

Bali, what a place. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been asked what my favorite place in the world is and it’s always  a tie between Spain and Bali. I’m often asked but why? What makes you love Bali? And my answer is always, EVERYTHING.

I love everything about Bali. From its unending picturesque beaches,  exotic waterfalls, terraced rice fields, delicious vegan food, adorable cafes and shops, and its captivating spiritual energy. There is something for everyone in Bali, especially for those that are looking to recharge their mind, body and soul while on vacation. Bali is the perfect destination to deepen your yoga practice, enjoy vibrant color healthy food, get pampered at the most incredible spas and relax among spectacular jungle and mountain views.

During my last trip to Bali, I visited Seminyak and Ubud, but Uluwatu and Canggu are also great places to put on your “must see” list. There is so much to uncover and explore in Bali, but I have gathered some of my favorite spots from my travels. I also recommend being open to driving a motorbike when you visit.. Traffic is insane on the island and it takes a long time to get from place to place.  It’s a bit scary at first, but once you get started, you’ll love it. If I can do it, I’m pretty sure you can too. When exploring in moto, with all the locals, you get a true and authentic experience while immersing yourself in the culture of Bali.

Seminyak

Seminyak is one of the most popular tourist places in Bali. It’s buzzing with people and things to do. Start your day in Seminyak with a trip to an amazing coffee shop in town to sample colorful, fresh-squeezed juices or discover your favorite local caffeine fix. During my stay at a Seminyak AirBnB, our hosts made us breakfast every morning, but we were sure to take advantage of everything this quaint town offered. One of my favorite Seminyak experiences was relaxing with a famous Balinese massage followed by an afternoon of endless shopping, and of course, eating. The beaches are also a dream and you can easily spend an entire day at the beach ending with a sunset cocktail  in one of their popular shoreline bars or restaurants.

 Where to Eat

Sisterfields– Australians do it best?! Yup. They do.  This restaurant was so good that I never forgot about it.  Go there, pick anything that suits you and ENJOY.

Kynd Community– This place is definitely not boring. Their plant-based menu is massive with lots to choose from. I wanted to try everything and I hope you do your best to do so too. Not only is everything on the menu delicious, but whatever you choose will be the most colorful and beautiful dish you’ve eaten in a while.

Earth Cafe & Market Seminyak–  One of my last meals in Seminyak was a blissful surprise. When you are in Bali, you’re surrounded by healthy influences and you’ll want to partake in the all fresh, healthy cuisine options the community has to offer. The Balinese make it incredibly easy with places like Earth Cafe, to nourish your body and your soul.. Earth Cafe is committed to serving the best quality, freshest and most nutritious food while also tailoring to individual diet needs and/or allergy requirements. After eating your meal of choice, make sure to take something home with you! The market is filled with healthy and nutritious bites you’ll want to snack on while exploring the rest of the town.

 Sunset Views

La Plancha Bali–  Bali sunsets are so pure and magical. You’ll definitely want to go to La Plancha and grab a colorful bean bag chair while slipping away into sunset bliss as dusk begins to settle.   Grab a cocktail, a small bite, whatever you choose to do, just take the day’s end slow with a breathtaking view.

Ku Te Da– Luxury, sophistication and zen all in one location.  Ku Te Da is everything to remember, from world class dining, perfect sunset views and amazing live music as you transition from day to night. Remember to plan accordingly, because you might just fall in love and never want to leave.

Surf

Kuta– A short 10-20 minute drive outside of Seminyak, boasts the ultimate surf spot for beginners. If you want to surf solo, you’ll find your perfect waves in Kuta. In addition to chasing swells, Kuta has an array of surf shops and instructors to help you gear-up and become a surf pro in no time. The Balinese are incredibly nice and love to help travelers experience Bali surf. They’ll be sure to get you up on that board at least once to ride that perfect wave. Here are a few surf spots and surf schools to consider:

  • Drifter Surf Shop

  • Bali Green Surf School

  • Santai Surf School Bali

Ubud

Ubud is probably one of my favorite little towns that I have ever been to. Filled with rice fields, monkey jungles, waterfalls, cute cafes and restaurants, temples and the most charming street markets you’ll ever see. I had the opportunity to practice yoga, stretch my mind and body, and dip myself in the famous flower balinese spa bath. The energy here is something that words cannot explain, everything is so honest and spiritual. You feel so empowered and wanting more when you leave this magical place. Some of my all time favorite memories happened here because there is so much to see and do that create unforgettable memories for your whole being.

 Things to Do

Tegallalang Rice TerracePositioned in a valley, the Tegalalang Rice Terraces offer extremely scenic lookouts over the rice fields and surrounding green landscape. Once you get to the fields, you’ll instantly fall in love and want to explore.  I recommend getting to the Rice Terrace early in the morning because it can get incredibly hot and humid later on in the day. If you want to make the trip even more special, don’t forget to ride the swing over the fields for that perfect photo. There’s no other place like this one.

Yoga Ubud; every yogi’s heaven. This part of Bali has so much yoga to choose from, you’ll find styles that suit you from spiritual practices to fast paced vinyasa and power flows. Studios here are so beautiful, no yoga sesh has ever come close to the scenery and vibe that I had here. Studios are well equipped and many are tucked away in Ubud’s most tranquil places, with views for days.  So zen and so beautiful, these were my favorites:

  • Ubud Yoga House

  • The Yoga Barn

  • Taksu Yoga

  • Yoga Saraswati

Waterfalls

One of my favorite things other than  oceans and sunsets are waterfalls, and Bali definitely has plenty of waterfalls.  Another reason why I recommend using moto as transportation is because you can go visit multiple places and waterfalls without waiting too long in traffic or tours. The waterfalls in Bali are all unique and each hold a very special and magical feel that will inspire you  to explore them all. However, make sure when visiting you are ready to walk, hike, and get wet. Here are some of my favorites

Tegenungan Waterfall The Tegenungan waterfall is one of the closest and most popular to Ubud. Surrounded by a lush forest of jungle trees and exotic greenery, this  enormous waterfall is absolutely breathtaking and it is well worth the trip. Make sure you take advantage of the natural shower the waterfall provides and take a quick dip in the rock pool after an amazing hike to the top of the fall. This is an experience you will never forget.

Tukad Cepung Tukad Cepung is a waterfall for those truly seeking adventure. Nestled inside of a cave, the Tukad Cepung Waterfall is complemented by light beams shining through the cracks of the cave walls. This natural beauty is something to see. The Tukad Cepung waterfall has grown in popularity over the years and there’s a chance there might be quite a line to get to the waterfall. This might not be Ubud’s best kept secret anymore, but it is absolutely worth it. This is definitely a top waterfall to see, so put it on your “must do” list.

Spas

Bali is my ultimate choice for a vacation that is sprinkled with health and wellness. The Bali way of living and the perspective on life is something that makes you feel good inside and out. They don’t call Bali the “Island of the Gods” for nothing. You’ll experience  wellness and a sense of inner-peace l without even trying. You’ll return home feeling rejuvenated and awakened and ready to take on life’s everyday challenges as you remember your restful and exciting journey in Bali

Taksu Spa–  This place is the definition of  everything zen. The serene tropical surroundings transport you to that perfect relaxing state. The moment you walk into the spa, you are greeted by incredibly sweet, professional, and talented staff. I booked a massage and  had the privilege of adding a turmeric galangal exfoliating body scrub. The scrub removes dead skin and boosts circulation. After getting my massage and scrub, my continual relaxation was enhanced by a tranquil outdoor shower followed by a Balinese flower bath.

The Balinese flower bath is also called a celebration of flowers. There are many different benefits to a flower bath depending on the types of flowers used. For example, roses are used to help hydrate your skin, lavender has a calming effect and helps to relieve stress, and lotus flowers are used to soften the skin. These flowers are designed within the bath like a beautiful art exhibit ready for you to take the perfect soak. Be sure to snap a quick picture of your bath design, this is certainly something you’ll want to remember.

My entire stay at Taksu Spa is one of the most amazing spa experiences of my life. There are so many spa options to choose from, but make sure you do your research. Here are some more highly recommended spas:

The Kaveri Spa at The Udaya

  • Maya Ubud

  • Karsa Spa

My time in Bali was truly awakening and I’m so grateful for the wonderful experiences and memories I created there. Without a doubt, I’m counting down the days until my next adventure to Bali. Regardless of where I go, my travels always help me grow and appreciate the world around me. I treasure my Bali experiences, from the people, the food, the culture, and the lifestyle. If you have the opportunity to go to a destination that has a little bit of everything like Bali, I highly recommend it.

I’m pretty sure I have always loved bathtubs but lately it’s just been taken to another level.  Not really sure if it’s because my parents asked me to help them with renovating their new house, all the traveling I have been doing, or all my ‘self care’ nights with bubbles I’ve been having, but it’s gotten real.  Other than a kitchen, I believe the bathroom is the second best place in a house.  What makes a bathroom amazing?! Yep.  A bomb bathtub.  A place that you can unwind and relax, read your favorite book or just lay there with candles with your favorite tunes all by your gorgeous self.

So I decided to put together some inspiration pages for myself for my own home that I hope to have soon but mostly for my parents so they can get inspired during the renovation.  Here below are some of my current favorites.  Feel free to get yourself in a bathtub and manifest yourself in one of these. x

I have an addiction. An addiction I’m ok with but not sure my bank account is.  My addiction is Wholefoods or any health food store.  I enjoy taking long walks down the aisles.  I love healthy food and snacks but I also love finding new companies out there that are good for you but also tasty.  Having to be picky about what I put in my body because of my breakdown of food issues, I have found some of my favorite healthy go to brands that I think you will like too.  Whole Foods, Trader Joes and Sprouts have a host of great products for busy people including plenty of amazing snacking options. Whether you’re looking for something salty or something sweet (or maybe a little of both), there’s no doubt you can find it at these places.

Chomps Free Range Turkey Sticks

My favorite high protein, low calorie clean snack go to.  Real ingredients and they are super tasty.  I always have some handy because they are so easy to track around for a high protein kick.  All other flavors are good too but these are my favorite.  10g of protein // 60 calories

Bhu Foods Protein Bars

Bhu (pronounced “BOO”) is a Sanskrit word that means “of the earth.” It is a sacred trust: honoring the earth that supports all life.  Not only do I love this company because of what they stand for, and their role in not using GMO’s but the taste of their bars are incredibly tasty.  They are clean, non gmo, high protein, soft and chewy.  Just how a protein bar should be.  11g of protein // 200 calories

Siete Queso Dip

If you don’t already know, get your car keys ready because you’ll want this in your refrigerator at all times.   What I love about this queso dip is that it only consists of real ingredients, it’s dairy free,  low calorie and it’s incredibly delicious.  I like to eat it with siete chips or crackers but I also love to cut up raw veggies for the best healthy snack.  I can honestly say that Siete family story is so moving but also every single one of their products is worth the talk.  Buy them. You’ll love them.

Good Culture Cottage Cheese

I’m so happy to brag about this brand because they believe in eating good, feeling good and surrounding yourself with good.  I’ve always been a huge fan of cottage cheese but I couldn’t find one that had clean ingredients and tasted good.  High in protein, low in calories, thick and creamy.  They never use preservatives, gums, or anything artificial, and a portion of their sales goes to a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting regenerative agriculture. 14g of protein // 80 calories

LA is a mix of different cultures and traditions, and you can have different types of food in every little neighborhood. Those of you that know, this city is like no other when it comes to food.  There are so many places to eat and over plenty of options from different areas and countries of the world to a specific diet you may have.  And while a lot of them are good, we want to make sure that you have all of the great LA beachside restaurants on your radar.

Breakfast

The Fig | The Fairmont Santa Monica

FIG is a beautiful breakfast/brunch destination with its selection of food that has all your morning taste buds covered, including the yummiest of all bloody mary’s or sangria.  Plates are pretty big for one so split the insane Chilaquiles Rojo: Served with cage free eggs, pulled chicken, queso fresco cilantro & red onion.  Sit outside and take in the beautiful surroundings of the most beautiful palms and poolside villas while you eat the freshest and yummiest of foods.

Lunch

Cafe Gratitude // One of my all time favorites and it NEVER disappoints! They strive to source the highest quality, nutrient dense ingredients from local farmers and the best artisan producers. They believe food is medicine and you honestly eat so great here… taste wise and health wise. You’ll love it.

The Rose // The Rose Venice is an iconic restaurant in the heart of Venice, serving locals and travelers alike since 1979. The community knows and loves the seasonal, globally influenced cuisine. The aesthetic of the restaurant is also to die for. Please note: If you cannot make it for lunch make it for dinner because the evening menu is also damn good.

Gjusta // First things first, this place is amazing. Like the Venice neighborhood itself, the terrace is both comfortable, chill, and beautiful. Pull up a seat at a mismatched common table and just enjoy good company over really, really delicious food. Gjusta is the bakery arm of Venice Italian restaurant Gjelina, (one of my favs) there’s plenty of gluten-free options too if that’s what you are looking for. I would definitely choose this place if you’re looking for a trendy space and also a satisfied belly.

Erewhon // The supermarket of my dreams right here. You will probably spend more money than ever before but it will be so worth it. Here, you can walk down the aisles of this health store and you don’t have to read a single nutrition label. You can freely throw items in your cart, fill it up and know that there is not one single drop of processed sugar, artificial flavor or corn syrup (high fructose or otherwise). Everything you could possibly purchase is clean  and as close to the source as you can get without getting your clothes dirty. The next best part of this place?! You can eat there too. Fresh, Clean, Colorful Healthy yummy food. Makes me hungry even talking about it.

Cava // If you want a quick and easy stop for a meal, go here. Simple. Fresh. Good stuff is served at Cava. The best ingredients that include farm fresh veggies, meats, and sauces are made here and you can make your bowl out of them. Definitely my go to for a quick healthy bite with flavor satisfying food.

Dinner

Yours Truly | Abbot Kinney

I don’t even know where to begin with this place. Absolutely my favorite restaurant right now and I’ll be surprised if someone beats the no.1 status anytime soon. Every single thing we ordered was spectacular and every single bite was better than the next. From the most simple tomato salad and house bread to their perfectly cooked buttery scallops on top of sunflower risotto, was mind blowing. You know that moment where you eat your first bite of something marvelous and you never forget about it?! That’s how every single item on the menu is like. We were so amazed by everything that we instantly were like, yup. This place is LEGIT. So please if you live in LA or are visiting, put Yours Truly on the very top. Your food baby will be worth it.

After reflecting on my travels these past couple of months I realized there are things I could leave behind and some things I really do need to make my wanderlust life easier.  I get asked all the time what my top must have’s are so here they are.  These six essentials are a must for myself and I think would be very much appreciated by you too.  If you are traveling for a 15 plus hours on a plane or even a two hour flight…these will be your babies every time you get on that transit.  *Note: Click the link to buy 🙂

The Weekender | Away

If you don’t already know, now you know.  The away bags are nothing like you’ve ever had before.  They are long lasting, durable, stylish and the CEO of the company is a total inspiring boss babe.  Once you’ve owned one of these, you will never go back.  I have had lots of experience with different travel bags and different brands and nothing compares to these.  Do yourself a favor and get you one.  You’ll love me forever. 😉

Silk Travel Set | Calpak

I definitely love a good neck pillow but they are hard to come by.  Im a huge fan of this travel set because it’s lightweight, silk and it’s easy on the hair and skin.  These neck pillows get pretty dirty traveling and being put on not so clean spaces but Calpak makes these easy to clean as well.  Let’s also mention that it’s Rose Gold which I’m a huge sucker for.  Because it’s silk, it will also feel semi cool on your skin.  Probably a bit pricier than usual but it’s totally worth it.

Comfy Kicks | Stanley Smiths

Wherever you may travel to you need some closed toed comfy sneakers.  You need a pair that will go with almost anything in your closet and everything that you will be packing.  My Stanley Smith’s are actually one of my all time favorite travel staples because they are comfortable AF, stylish and they can be dressed up or down.  You can wear them with jeans, shorts or even dresses.  Walk or run all day in them.  They are my favorites for 4 years now and probably for another 4 too. Pretty sure they be in style for years to come.

Packing Cubes

Packing Cubes.  What a traveling life saver.  I literally could have not survived traveling for six months with my backpack without these things.  You can literally fill up one cube with a weeks wardrobe and more.  Every single person who travels at least once a year needs these.  They save space, helped you stay organized and they’re cute as hell.  Boys, there are also some for you on Amazon.  I got you. 😉 Anndddd the breathable mesh front lets you easily identify what’s inside.

Foam Roller Water Bottle | Mobot

I have no words for this water bottle.  We all know the importance of staying hydrated but also what’s better than staying hydrated and getting your muscles and body in tune for your next workout.  This baby does it all.  The reason why I love this so much is also because after a couple of hours traveling you want to stretch out and get your body back to normal.  What’s better than to have access to a foam roller at all times?! The smaller diameter is perfect to carry with you as it fits most backpack sleeves and gym equipment. It’s one of my all time favorite things at the moment.  Get yourself one.

Mini Steamer | Sunbeam

We all know that moment when you finally get to your destination and all your clothes are wrinkled and then you realize the Airbnb doesn’t have an iron or the hotel you’re at has one but then you have to get out the iron board, get a table for the iron, etc, etc. We don’t have time for that! 🙂 I love my Sunbeam mini steamer because it doesn’t take up much space in my luggage and it works so damn good.  You save time, energy and space.  If you don’t have one already please invest in one.  It’s the best $25 dollar purchase you’ll ever make.  You’re welcome.

Much love always, x

So it’s been a couple of weeks since my trip to Cartagena but I can’t stop looking at my photos because that place was so incredible.  Everywhere you turn, there’s a spot for that perfect picture.  The colors, the art, the people, the vibe, it’s just all so beautiful to capture.  Cartagena can be explored and experienced in two to three full days so I would consider that before booking here.  Take advantage of the beach resorts close by or the ever talked about Medellin.  Will definitely have to make it there soon!

WHERE TO STAY:

AirBnB-  There are adorable and super cute Airbnb’s in this town.  I did travel with 5 other girls so we lucked out on a space right in the middle of the city and a breathtaking view.   I would recommend getting an Airbnb where you can get around town easily by foot.

Hotels- Cartagena has some of the most amazing hotels I’ve ever seen.  It reminded me of Miami with a touch of Tulum.  I went inside so many hotels to check out the space and I couldn’t pick a main favorite.  Here below are some of my tops.

 Tcherassi Hotel & Spa

 Sofitel Legend Santa Clara Cartagena

 Casa San Agustin

WHERE TO EAT/DRINK:

Cuba 1940–  This place was so much fun.  Not only do they have live music playing but they also have a pool in the middle of the restaurant which gives it that cool little touch.  The decor is also on point and the staff is incredibly nice.  If you are a passionfruit lover/addict like myself, order the Passionfruit mojito.  It was deliciosooooo.

Cafe Del Mar–  You will read and hear people talk about this place non stop.  It’s incredible sea views and dope vibe is very popular among tourists.  You definitely want to try to make it here before dinner or at least give yourself some time to get a table and take it all in.  Hopefully you catch a sweet sunset like we did.   It was that moment here where I realized how fortunate and blessed I am to experience travel and moments like these.

Interno–  This restaurant can have a blog on itself because it was one of the coolest experiences I’ll always remember.  From the pink walls and palm decor, this Michelin-starred restaurant is making a difference.  Interno is in the women’s prison of Cartagena and the inmates are taught to cook by Colombian celebrity chefs.  The food was good, not amazing but definitely so glad I had the opportunity to experience this because it was eye opening.  We had the chance to speak to some of the women and they were so kind and open to speak with us about their experience and life situation.  This restaurant has helped dozens of inmates learn skills designed to aid reintegration into society.  I definitely recommend putting this on your to do list when here.  It’s something you won’t regret.

What to See and Do

Explore the Town | Definitely take one day to explore the whole entire city.  Make time to try some of the best coffee of your life.  Stop at the cute cafe’s in every corner and buy some to take some home with you.  Make sure to shop around. You’ll want to take everything back home! From beautiful homemade bags and shoes, to never ending turquoise and jewelry, unique home decor, and the list goes on.  This whole entire city is so vibrant and colorful and full of life.  I definitely got inspired for some future Yemaya designs.  Take pictures with the fruit ladies, dance on the street, take a carriage ride, try the amazing fruit sold on the street, stop in a cerveza shop for a beer break. Make sure to make your way to Getsemani. It’s one of the coolest little sections of the city and one of my favorite neighborhoods.  You’ll see the cutest shops, restaurants, hotels and street art all through out these streets.

Travel to Playa Blanca in Isla Baru | There are plenty of ways to get there but we decided to take a bus for the transportation which included food.  It is a crowded known beach but there are low key sections as well.  Just make sure to talk to your driver about that beforehand.  This beach does have white sand and crystal green waters so it’s definitely worth seeing.  Best tip I can give you is…. bring your own drinks and snacks because everything on the island is triple the price and there’s not much to pick from.

Travel to the Pink Salt Sea | Must, must, must see this.  I told all the girls on the trip that I’m not leaving Cartagena until I see this pink sea with my own eyes.  It’s been on my bucket list for a while so when I showed the girls pics of this place they were quickly on board too.  Getting there is a bit difficult but we had the coolest driver that we met previously that ended up driving us the whole day to a couple of well known places for a great price.  Tip: If you find a good reliable driver, get his contact and keep him for the rest of your trip.   Salinas de Galerazamba is about 45 minutes outside of Cartagena in the middle of nowhere.  Ubers can also take you there but I would recommend making sure your driver stays with you and takes you back because you won’t find Ubers for your way back.  Literally the middle of nowhere.  There is something super magical about stepping into pink salt water.  Take your time to take pictures and take it all in.

My trip to Cartagena was full of culture, laughs and beautiful scenery.  I’ve never been to such a charming beautiful place.  Being from South America, I did feel at home or maybe it was the lovely and kind people of Cartagena that made me feel this way.  All I know is that it’s a special place and definitely recommend for all the peoples to put it on their travel list.  So happy I got to experience this country and it’s beauty.  More pictures of the trip on IG @carlaloren

Self Love. Self Care.  I don’t know about you but I’m all about it.  I’m all about feeling good about myself especially during the hard times.   I wanted to give you some of the things I do that help me.  Endless quotes on Pinterest and Instagram, email #SelfCare blasts and top influencer self go to’s are all great but I wanted to put a list together that can possibly help you if you are stuck or just have to give yourself a lil more lovin. 😉

And yes getting together with your girlfriends, family and or loved ones are good ways to give you a lil boost but it’s important to know how to give yourself self care on your own.  Things you can do when you are all by yourself. Just you.  Its scientifically proven that women tend to seek outside comfort when they are going thru hard times such has hanging with girlfriends and or family.  I believe knowing how to self care by your lonesome is actually one of the most powerful things you can do for yourself.  Once you master that, you can love in all situations and people that come your way.

–  Take an essential oil bath (essential oils improve mood and set a positive atmosphere)

–  Journal or start a journal if you haven’t already (Journaling is a good way to set your goals, daily intentions, and live more in gratitude)

–  Do your favorite yoga/zen/meditation class (Anything that calms your body and mind will instantly make you feel better)

–  Look up quotes! I do this every morning + night and honestly it has helped me tremendously.  Find your favorite writers and authors.  Maybe it will work for you too. <3

–  Make your bed and clean your space and THEN light your favorite candle.

–  Listen to your favorite tunes, whether it’s calming or makes you wanna dance (Dancing never put anyone in a bad mood)

–  Smile to at least one person everyday (You’ll be amazed how awesome that makes you feel)

–  Give yourself a hair, face, and hand mask.

–  Talk to God or the Universe.  Talk out loud to whoever you want to speak to or believe in.

–  Put your phone on silent and go into nature. (Hike, walk, whatever it is get outside. Breath the fresh air.)

–  Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate.  As much as I’m thinking of some pink bubbly right now I’m talking about water with lemon. 🙂 (Detoxifies and cleanses)

– Just chill.  Put on your favorite comfies and watch your favorite show or movie.  (It’s ok to be lazy once in a while)

At the end of the day. Do you.  Do what makes YOU happy.  What’s going to put a smile on YOUR face.  This world is a crazy, silly, hard yet beautiful place.  Let’s learn how to care for ourselves so we can care for the rest.
